WEB SITE/JAVASCRIPT TESTING

Example 1: Testing on a variety of browsers and platforms.

  1. We received the Script error seen in the following screen capture when clicking on any Chapter subsection in Internet Explorer.

This replicated reliably on all Windows systems with Internet Explorer and happened using the navigational buttons or search links to open the pages as well. This occurred with both version 4.0 (which is actually number 4.72.3612.1713) and version 5 of Internet Explorer. There were no additional problems after we clicked on Yes.

  1. In isolated instances on a Windows 95 system we received the following script error after clicking on the Search button in the Search dialog. This occurred at least once while searching for "Hemo*" and once while searching for the word "Patho*".

  1. We received the errors seen in the following screen captures when clicking on the Manage button in the Notes screen on at least two Windows systems that were using different versions of Internet Explorer.

This error was followed then by the error below on one of these systems

After we clicked on OK, the manage screen would not display any notes even though we had saved at least one.

Example 2: Verifying site performance under different Javascript versions.

We tested the site under the following configurations:
Tested on IE 3 and Netscape Communicator 4.6 - Windows 95 (800x600)
Tested on IE 5 and Netscape Communicator 4.6 - Windows 98 SE (800x600)
Tested on IE 5 and Netscape Communicator 4.6 - Windows 2000 (1024x768)

On IE 3 the images on the left do not roll over and the box containing information when the roll over of the button takes place does not appear. Generally, none of the rollovers work properly on IE 3. Also, on IE 3 in the Feedback page the feedback box does not align correctly.

In the "Browse Ancillaries" feature, in IE 5 the alignment of the text in the form is off. This may just be a simple alignment error due to the width of the tables.

In the section titled "Browse ancillary by book" the Browse button is pushed onto the next line because of the width of the text next to it.
